Today, we would like to talk more about colors. One can boost the positive energies or repel the negative vibes out of their environment, by using different feng shui elements.
Some of these useful elements are as simple as choosing the right color for a specific area, and in our case, we are dedicating this post to the kitchen. Nevertheless, in feng shui picking the right color is way more complex than just having good taste.
This is because, feng shui kitchen paint colors are an important part of creating an efficient, yet calming, harmonious space that not only provides great meals, but also supports your health and well-being.
The Right Color To Your Kitchen’s Position
In feng shui, the best choice of colors is defined by the location of your kitchen. The location is determined by the so-called bagua, or feng shui energy map. Now, learning how to use the bagua takes time and dedication, but here is an easy guide to get you started, while you practice and define your kitchen’s energy map.
South Area Kitchen
Feng shui bagua area: Fame & Reputation
Western bagua location: center top
This is one of the most auspicious kitchen locations in feng shui as it works very well with the Fire feng shui element energy of the area. In fact, the Chinese placed their kitchens in the east or south sectors of their homes.
If your kitchen is placed in the South, you can use all sorts of fiery colors – from bright red to intense yellow or orange. Nonetheless, some feng shui experts believe this fiery shade can create an imbalance in the kitchen when used in large doses.
Use a more neutral color throughout most of the room and rely on red as an accent. Small items in purple, gold or red colors help feng shui home for wealth. Colors to avoid (in big proportions) in a South area kitchen are blue and black.

If you have a kitchen in the Southwest area, you can also use hot intense colors, but without excess. Fire element is nourishing for the Earth element of this bagua area, so you can try applying соме stronger colors if you so desire.
Earth element colors and decor items are excellent here, too. Colors to avoid in a Southwest kitchen are too many whites and grays or blue and black. In other words, this is not the best area for cold colors.
West Area Kitchen
Feng shui bagua area: Children & Creativity
Western bagua location: mid right
The fire element of the kitchen can weaken the metal element energy of this bagua area. Avoid too many fire element colors and focus on strong Earth element decor. Clean grays, warm earthy tones, and fresh white hues are excellent for a West area kitchen.
White is often a prevalent kitchen color since it pairs well with every color. It is a symbol of cleanliness and purity and can create a blank canvas that you can accent with warmer shades to keep the room from feeling too stark and cold.
White, gray and silver kitchen colors create neutral and elegant decor, helping feng shui kitchen design. Modern wallpaper patterns, decals, wall paint colors or wall tiles in white and gray shades are believed to help your wealth.

A kitchen in the Northwest area needs exactly the same treatment as a kitchen in the West because they both share metal, as their feng shui element. They have an abundance of warm earthy colors, as well as crisp whites and clear grays. In this area, avoid fiery and watery colors.
